An introduction to carving stamps and printing fabric using natural fabric paints.

Spend an afternoon learning the practical process of carving and printing your own fabric stamps with Erin Lacy of Pick Pretty Paints, whose workshops are also held at the Sloop Studios in St Ives.

Erin will guide you through the essentials of block printing, including how to carve simple, durable stamps and how to build repeat borders and layered designs using more than one block. You’ll work with her hand-mixed natural fabric paints, chosen for their soft colour and suitability for textiles.

During the session, you’ll print a series of fabric samples to test ideas, followed by a finished calico bag to take home. Erin will bring botanical reference materials, and each participant will receive a print pack containing everything needed to begin carving and printing on the day.

This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those wanting to develop a more considered approach to hand printing on cloth.
