Faith Chevannes - Open Studios

Studio focusing on drypoint intaglio printmaking. Recent pieces revolve around the love of my environment and wild birds. Most welcome just to look!

My work captures fleeting moments and precious glimpses of our fragile natural world typically focusing on local landscapes, flora, and fauna.

I make small editions of drypoint intaglio prints that showcase the beauty of the mediums’ irresistible rich velvety burr lines. I also make mixed media pieces along similar themes.

Recent pieces revolve around my love of wild birds and many of them have a humorous perspective, which captures some of the fascinating little characters I have observed. I worry about environmental changes to their world causing them to lose habitats and become endangered, critically endangered and, extinct.

I trained as an artist in the 1990s at Falmouth School of Art and DeMonfort University, Leicester achieving a BA (Hons) in Visual Arts and a PGCE in Art and Design Education.

My studio is situated on the edge of the spectacular Tamar Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty and just a short drive to the wild North Cornish coast or the remote romantic moors of Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor. I am fascinated with nature and the ever-changing seasons and find myself constantly inspired by my environment, my memory of it, and my sense of place.

I have collectors worldwide and exhibit Nationally, including at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Royal West Academy Bristol, The Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, Sky Arts ‘Portrait Artist of the Week’ winner, The Ruth Borchard Self Portrait Prize, Bath Society of Artists, Wildwood Arts Dartmoor and Delamore Arts.
