For 'Cornwall Hugs Grenfell' - Yew Music support
After a sell-out performance last year at the Acorn, the Falmouth Soul Sensation are thrilled to be returning for the seventh year running!
This year their benefit gig is in aid of Cornwall Hugs Grenfell, the charity that started with a Facebook post a few days after the disastrous Grenfell Tower fire in 2017: ‘Imagine if we could put a Cornish holiday on the horizon of every Grenfell resident and firefighter family: a time to rest, a time to let our beautiful county bless these people and work its gentle magic’. Since that post the charity has enabled more than 480 Grenfell Tower survivors, bereaved, close neighbours or firefighters to come on holiday to Cornwall. Over a third of all tower survivors have come. See www.cornwallhugscornwall.org.
The Falmouth Soul Sensation are Cornwall’s own 12-piece dance band, who have been playing the best of classic 60’s soul music for more than a decade. Expect music from Aretha, Sam and Dave, Otis, Dusty, Wilson Pickett and many others! The band regularly plays to packed audiences all over Cornwall, and over the last year has played at Falmouth Carnival, Looe Festival, Penryn Fayre and the Eden Project. The members include experienced musicians with many years of playing, as well as talented youngsters from local colleges. Either dance the night away, or just sit back in the balcony and enjoy!
Yew Music, a new young duo from Falmouth, with Jean Danio and Chelsey Millar, will provide support.
This event will brighten up the winter gloom for music lovers of all ages; expect a lively evening of non-stop dancing! Both last year and in previous years the event has sold out, so don’t delay – get your tickets now!
