About this event
This event brings together creative and cultural practitioners, and interested members of the wider creative community, to discuss a range of issues around creative practice in Cornwall and the environment, particularly related to filmmaking. We would also love to hear from creative practitioners across other fields whose insight from their own work could bring other perspectives to filmmaking and creative practice more generally. Cornwall has been a filming location for over 120 years; as shooting for film and television continues to increase in the region, so does tourism, with growing numbers of visitors attracted to the versions of Cornwall that so regularly appear on screen. Prompted by a short film commissioned from director Florence Browne, we invite participants to discuss the environmental impacts of using the Cornish landscape as a site for creative and cultural production and its relation to the ‘Cornwalls’ that appear on screen.
The discussion will be led by: Jo Garde-Hansen, Rachel Moseley and Gemma Goodman.
There will also be tea and cake (of course), and a chance for those attending to make contacts with others.
In collaboration with Cornwall Council, and University of Warwick Amphibious Screens Seminar Series.
