About this event
Naming the View is a modern re-imagining of Katherine from Shakespeare’s ‘The Taming of The Shrew’ thirty years after her marriage to husband Petruchio.
On a bench, gazing at the gob-smacking view, Kate is unexpectedly joined by an irritating acquaintance from her past. An awkward conversation slowly reveals why their hopes and dreams never matched their expectations. Eventually they find the courage to break the shackles of controlling partners and relish the joy of freedom. It’s never too late to explore new horizons but it takes guts to start again.
Naming the View is a modern re-imagining of Katherine from Shakespeare’s ‘The Taming of The Shrew’ thirty years after her marriage to husband Petruchio. It embraces humour along with the topical and serious subject of coercive control and has already attracted attention, most notably from the Guardian columnist and author Helen Walmsley-Johnson who said “Naming the View nailing the subtleties and nit-picking pettiness of #coercivecontrol. Just awesome.”
