The Heseltine Gallery at Truro School is delighted to present Land and Sea, an exhibition by artist Flora Forshall, running from Saturday 28 February to Friday 27 March 2026.

A graduate of Falmouth University, Flora Forshall comes from a highly creative family and has been immersed in art from an early age. Her practice spans drawing, painting, collage and printmaking, with a particular focus on screen printing. Reflecting on her early experiences, Flora explains:
“We were always around inks, pens and paints. I started screen printing at university, producing large repeat patterns on metre-long fabrics, working collaboratively with large squeegees to flood the cloth with ink.”

Since graduating, Flora has concentrated on developing her studio practice, creating limited-edition screen prints and lino prints on paper. Her work draws inspiration from the natural world — its curves, shapes and organic patterns — which she carefully arranges to interlock like pieces of a puzzle. She particularly enjoys experimenting with collage to generate new marks and forms, before separating colours and translating ideas into print.

One of Flora’s favourite works in the exhibition is Huatulco, inspired by her 2024 artist residency in Mexico. During her time there, she learned to screen print using natural pigments traditionally found in local textiles. The residency had a profound influence on her work, inspiring her exploration of positive and negative space, balance and storytelling through image placement. The vibrant colours and unusual forms of Mexico’s flowers and plants feature strongly throughout the exhibition.
