About this event
Doing Veganuary?
Committed carnivore?
Or just confused??
Should we all be giving up meat and dairy if we’re to have a hope of getting climate change under control?
This is what the headlines seem to tell us – but are things quite so black and white?
‘Food for Thought’ is the latest documentary from the charity Cornwall Climate Care (cornwallclimate.org). Presented by organic farmer Lisa Guy, who farms a herd of beef cattle near Land’s End, it takes a ‘behind the headlines’ look at the claims around the climate impact of livestock farming.
Animal agriculture is calculated to contribute more to the world’s greenhouse gas emissions than transport.
But do pasture-fed animals in Cornwall, where the whole landscape has been shaped by centuries of animal agriculture, have the same climate impact as intensively reared cattle, fed on soya grown in what might recently have been Amazonian rainforest?
This film features a wide range of voices and interesting and sometimes surprising projects working on these issues throughout the Duchy.
Event followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers and experts.
