Free two day heritage and mosaic workshop for 11-18s!

FOUGOU, ME, AND MOSAIC: A TAPESTRY OF HERITAGE

We’re looking for local young people to partake in a project to explore your sense of place in Cornwall and think about what heritage means to you. We will visit Halliggye Fogou together to get creative and deep dive into the mystical heritage site, it’s nature and our own feelings of place! We’ll gather back in Redruth to make a ceramic mosaic of Heritage, which will be installed at The Ladder permanently.

We’re planning a trip to Halliggye Fogou to take inspiration of it’s nature, mystery and … oldness! During the visit, you’ll get your own notebooks to sketch, write, and collect your thoughts. Writer, artist and workshop leader Olivia Lowry will guide you through creative activities to get you thinking. There is no need to be ‘good’ at art to join, we want to hear from everyone!

After the trip, we’ll team up with a professional artist Sarah Sullivan from RedPottery to create a mosaic artwork that will be displayed at The Ladder. This piece will blend traditional Cornish history with your personal stories, showcasing the rich tapestry of our community.

When:

Friday 16 August 10.30am – 3.30pm – Meet at The Ladder, Redruth and take a trip to the Fogou

Saturday 17 August 11-3pm — Meet at Red Pottery, Redruth to make the mosaic

September TBC – come see the install!
