About this event
Fylmk is a contemporary Cornish language short-film competition delivered by Screen Cornwall, the Cornish Language Office at Cornwall Council and Falmouth University’s School of Film and Television.
Collectively, we are seeking to commission an imaginative and engaging Cornish language short film, in any genre, from distinctive and exciting film-makers.
In past years, we have seen filmmakers such as Zoe Alker, who delivered YN MOR (pictured above, image courtesy of Aloha Bonser Shaw) the story of a fisherman and his daughter who spend most of their time at sea or apart, making for a fragile and hostile relationship.
If you are considering applying for FylmK 2020, or interested in working in the Cornish language, join us for a lunchtime screening of the 2019 commission, AN TAROW. Written by Samuel Jay Chessell, directed by Jonny Dry and produced by Ella Turner, AN TAROW brings Cornish folk tales into a present-day setting by exploring the theme of domestic abuse.
Date: 14th of May, 1-2pm
The film will be followed by a Zoom Q&A with the filmmakers and Mark Trevethan, lead at the Cornish Language Office at Cornwall Council who commissions FylmK.
To register, please email [email protected] to receive joining instructions for both the screening and the Zoom discussion.
