About this event
Julian Gaskell saved the day and headlined our first Blue Moon festival when we had a last minute cancellation. He played as Leigh Delamere and the Gordanos and they were fabulous. We are very happy to have him back, this time with Cally Gibson (of the Ragged trousered Philanthropists).
Julian Gaskell is a singer, songwriter, producer, performer and storyteller. Described in Cornwall by angry locals as the bastard son of Waits, Strummer, Reinhardt and Rachmaninov, he is a ludicrously self-sabotaging musical talent whose work incorporates verbose punk, withering agricultural-folk, european street accordion and skiffled-up boogie-woogie piano protest songs, torch ballads, weeping country laments and straight up rock ‘n’ bangers.
With Cally Gibson, this multi-instrumentalist duo always provide a blast on accordion, violin, piano and guitar playing traditional folk styles, rhythm and blues, music hall, cajun, klezmer and Victorian parlour music.
Expect to be moved by poignantly sung tales of funeral arrangements and cat food, passionate complaints on poverty, dishonesty and water quality as well as some robust advice on relationships.
