International Mining & Pasty Festival – Gelli printing

For the Redruth International Mining & Pasty Festival on Saturday 12 September, join us at Kresen Kernow, 10am-12pm or 1-3pm, and be inspired by shapes in the Cornish landscape. Learn how to make a Gelli print using stencils, found materials, coloured ink, rollers and your imagination.

Cornwall’s landscape is full of lots of different shapes, from widening seaside paths, to tall engine house chimneys, this activity is all about making an abstract print that represents what Cornwall means to you.

We will have aprons available, but this activity is very messy so we recommend wearing old clothes.

The activity is suitable for all ages. There are soft toys in reception for babies. Younger children can have a go at rolling ink, while older children and adults can make their own designs.

Details

Kresen Kernow is fully wheelchair and pushchair accessible, with lifts to all levels and automatic main entrance doors. Accessible toilets are available on both floors, with a fully-equipped Changing Places toilet also available on the ground floor. Separate baby changing facilities are also available on the ground floor. If you are arriving by vehicle, there are six accessible parking spaces at the Tesco side of the building and a level entrance into the building. If you are arriving on foot or wheels, from Redruth town centre, the closest entrance is at the end of the public path which runs through the old brewery site, from Chapel Street to Kresen Kernow. Please note, Kresen Kernow does not have a fire lift, but two fire refuges are located on the first floor.
