About this event
Come and see Gilliflower Pottery, which is Jana’s home studio, surrounded by her garden and orchard on the edge of Chacewater. There will be beautiful pottery to see and buy and she will be at hand to answer questions and tell you about the process, if you are interested. You are welcome to wander through the large garden, sit a while, watch the birds and enjoy the calm of the countryside.
Jana uses local clay from St Agnes, and an efficient electric kiln powered by renewable energy, in order to contain her environmental impact. You will be able to see pieces in progress, and may find her working at the wheel. Her work is inspired by the plants and birds in her garden, but also by her South African childhood and in particular the fynbos of the Western Cape.
Her mugs, bowls, serving bowls and platters celebrate simple and everyday rituals. She takes particular pleasure in making large bowls and platters for the sharing of meals with family and friends.
