Using the Leach Pottery Standard Ware glazes, this course provides an overview of glazing and firing. You will learn basic techniques including the application of wax resist, working with oxides, and different ways to apply glazes. As a part of the course you will be able to assist with loading your work into the gas kiln, where it will be fired alongside our Standard Ware.
You will need to bring 20 of your own bisque fired pots with you on the day (mug size or equivalent). Please make sure that the clay is rated to fire to 1280°C (high-fire stoneware or porcelain). WARNING: if the clay is not high-fire clay it will melt in the kiln and damage other work.
A four day Specialist Skills glazing course is also available.
