Explore the story of the Cider House Pottery, a 1970s venture of creativity and passion, at Godolphin and see some of the collection up close.

Step inside the King’s Room at Godolphin and travel back to the vibrant creative days of the Cider House Pottery, which flourished here between 1975 and 1979. This pop-up display reveals the story behind the studio founded by Peter Schofield, son of Godolphin’s owners Mary and Sydney, and fellow potter and friend Mike Dodd.

Take a closer look at the display of handmade pots from the Godolphin collection, each one echoing the spirit and skill of its makers. And listen to an account of this venture through an oral history interview with Mike Dodd, capturing the essence of the pottery’s legacy.

Whether you’re a ceramics enthusiast or a lover of local heritage, this is your chance to discover the artistic pulse of Godolphin’s past.

This display takes place daily from Saturday 6 September – Thursday 9 October.

Godolphin is open from 10am -5pm. Normal admission applies and there is no pre-booking required.

Details

The King's Room is accessed via two sets of steps, which are unmarked, with no handrails. Accessibility dogs welcome. There are uneven floor levels and uneven terrain on the approach to the building.
