About this event
The Brodsky String Quartet is one of the world’s leading ensembles, with a huge repertoire and many award-winning recordings. They have performed over 3,000 concerts on the major stages of the world and released more than 70 recordings. As well as partnering many top classical artists, the quartet have made musical history with ground-breaking collaborations across many genres, with artists such as Bjork, Elvis Costello, Sting and jazz singer Jacqui Dankworth.
On Sunday 11th July at 7pm in Launceston Town Hall, the Quartet will perform GREETINGS FROM VIENNA. The concert opens with some enchanting music by Haydn. Next, the young musicians of Trigg Strings join the Brodskys to perform Schubert’s famous “Trout” theme song – involving some audience participation – and melodies from around the world by living composer Tristan Schulze. This will be a chance for local children to see their contemporaries playing together with one of the greatest string quartets in the world. Finally, the concert culminates in Schubert’s String Quintet – an unforgettable experience for all ages. Star cellist Laura van der Heijden joins the Brodskys for this piece, creating a rich orchestral sound in the great acoustic of the Town Hall. Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to hear Schubert’s greatest masterpiece played live by a wonderful group of top international artists!
