Ley Roberts - Featured Artist Exhibition

This new collection by printmaker Ley Roberts demonstrates the beauty and versatility of traditional metal plate etching as a medium for contemporary landscape works. It is her very first collection to be inspired by Polzeath and the surrounding landscape. Ley’s images are based on her observational pen and ink drawings, translated through traditional intaglio printmaking techniques. Her works invite viewers to discover beauty within the everyday and commonplace through closely observed light, and the ways in which it can enhance a subject or bestow a place, object, or person with an alluring nobility.

Ley followed a successful career in fashion and design in London, before returning to her home in Cornwall to pursue illustration and printmaking. She now works at her studio on the banks of the river Tamar and is a member of Tamar Valley Printmakers. She has exhibited widely, notably at the RWA, the RA Summer Exhibition, RE Bankside, Wells Cathedral and Woolwich Print Fair, where she won the Boodle Hatfield Prize in 2023. She was also the recipient of the Wales Contemporary 2D Prize earlier this year. Her work can be found in private and public collections in the UK and abroad.
