A Night of Poetry

Relatable and eloquent, searching but humorous, and performed with power and grace, let Hannah Temme dance you through a night of her original poetry and spoken word. Performer and poet, Hannah is also Theatre Assistant right here at the Acorn and Co-producer at SproutSpoken. Her poetry navigates the beautiful but dysfunctional world we live in, exploring social issues; the interconnectedness between femininity and the natural world; climate collapse; youth and aging; and everything in between. Join us for a night of words and wonder.

Born in Kent, surrounded by the Ashdown forest and a stone’s throw from the stunning South Downs, Hannah has since sharply uprooted, travelled a range of beautiful places – Nigeria, Russia, Japan, Peru, Sydney (to mention a few!) – and now landed face down on the soggy, stunning shores of North Cornwall. These experiences have culminated in an “elegant and impassioned” artist, “resolute bright and gutsy” in her poetry.

Now planting roots in Cornwall her poetry very much speaks to belonging and connectivity. Her projects with SproutSpoken, and other storytelling initiatives have enabled Hannah to explore wild corners of the county, working with communities and connecting people with their places, culture, artistry and stories. This has influenced her poetry with a strong influence of Cornwall, land and storytelling.

Listening to Hannah’s poetry “I am reminded of what matters in life and what doesn’t.” Despite the touches of melancholy, it is “affirming and hopeful”.

Over the past few years Hannah has been involved in poetry and performance all across the southwest, participating in competitions, poetry films, cabarets, cross art collaborations, book publications, festivals and workshops:
