About this event
Painter and folk musician Helen paints contemporary landscape and seascape works in oil, acrylic and mixed media. She draws using her home-made ink.
Much of Helen’s art draws upon her other interests of woodland ecology and local history. Many of her works explore the traces of the past in our lived landscapes, with a focus on the prehistoric. Her current series has emerged from the experience of working closely and hands-on in her local woodland. Her portraits of individual trees are drawn using ink derived from natural materials found in the same area.
Room 4 is inside the historic Eighteenth Century Barrack Block which hosts a community of art and music studios. The hill-top site at Maker Heights is steeped in heritage and boasts panoramic sea views in an area of outstanding natural beauty,
