About this event
This October half term you’re invited to explore the many traditions and celebrations of Halloween – you can learn some new tricks to earn some Heligan treats!
The Great Cucurbit Carving Competition: 23rd – 31st October
You can take part in a creative challenge where you’ll carve your cucurbits for our grand display and competition. Harvest is an important time of reflection and celebration of the year gone by and of planning for the year ahead here at Heligan. This year our Harvest theme is ‘Heligan Harvest, our past, present and future’, and we would like your designs to reflect this theme.
Please bring your entries along to the welcome stewards at Heligan reception on Friday 29th, Saturday 30th or Sunday 31st October (before 1pm). Entries will be judged by our Head Gardener at 2pm on Sunday 31st and the winner will be chosen and shall win tickets to this year’s Winter Night Garden lantern event.
Heligan Halloween Tricks & Treats!
Travel to our East Lawn Play Tent to join one of our have a go workshops, expertly facilitated by the spellbinding Pokya circus troupe. The tricks that you might learn will include poi, diabolo, hula-hoop, tight wire, juggling, unicycle, stilts and so much more.
Pokya’s spooky Halloween instructors will be ready to help you discover new skills and tricks, expelling some Autumn energy in the great outdoors and providing fun for all ages to enjoy! Twit-twoo!! Elsewhere in The Gardens, our reserve yard will host an array of stunning owls for you to come face to face with and you will realise they aren’t quite as spooky as you may think!
With our warming firepits alight, gather round to warm yourself from the fresh chill in the air and toast some marshmallows or yummy apples.
