Wheal Martyn Clay Works Heritage Open Days.
The UK’s only china clay mining museum will be opening its doors for free on Saturday 18 September as part of this year’s Heritage Open Days.
The Wheal Martyn Clay Works Heritage Open Days Festival will celebrate environmental sustainability through fantastic local history and culture with a full day of activities, workshops, trails, talks, stalls, food, music and more at the museum near St Austell. Visitors will also be able to explore the beautiful woodland site and historic clay works.
Highlights include foraging walks, art workshops, storytelling, campfire fun, dance performances, archive film shows, live music and even the chance to learn how to crimp a pasty and speak Cornish.
The festival is from 10:30am to 5:00pm on Saturday 18 September. Booking is advisable. You can turn up on the day but you may have to wait a short while. Some workshops are on at specific times and you are advised to sign up for a time slot on your arrival.
