About this event
At The Meadow Barns Centre we are excited to share news of the recently-created ‘House of Green Play’, which is one of the areas for learning about climate change. We run sessions, private and personalised for each family/group, combining fascinating facts about the historic water energy systems in nearby Luxulyan Valley, with up-to-date stories about green building techniques and energy today.
Our pre-school activities are linked with The Story of 3 Little Pigs, in a new version where the straw house turns out to be a winner and the brick house has to be retro-fitted with insulation!
You will all get to mash up clay & water, and apply it as plaster on real straw-bale walls. Then find how much energy you can make with wind mills and water wheels, plus a bit of added solar.
During a snack break (bring your own or buy from us) we help you to plan a walk, then start you off on your Story Walk Adventure through Luxulyan Valley (in the WHS – World Heritage Site for mining). Take the Story Walk book with you, for a fascinating and healthy half day in the woods.
