Are you a self-publishing author with a passion for children’s books? Do you want to learn how to create illustrations that will bring your stories to life and captivate young readers? Look no further than our Introduction to Children’s Book Illustration workshop!

In this hands-on workshop, you will learn the basics of children’s book illustration, from planning and drawing to sketching and composition. You’ll discover the secrets to designing engaging layouts, and using different mediums to bring your illustrations to life.

Even if you have no prior experience with art, we will guide you every step of the way, helping you unlock your creativity and develop the skills you need to create illustrations that truly shine. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have the tools and confidence to illustrate your own children’s book.

The session is led by Alexandra of Cornish Books, an illustrator and self published author.

The session will start with a review of children’s book illustrations with a focus on technical aspects of creating a children’s book (essential to ensuring you have no issues when you go to print).

After a short break this will be followed up with some hands on creative art exercises and a chance to plan out your own mini storyboard.

The session is based in the art room at Krowji, Redruth. During the event the Stones Café will also be open where you will be able to purchase a delicious array of cakes and savoury items.
