IMS Prussia Cove nurtures and inspires world-class musicians and brings world-class music to Cornwall. Our seminars, concerts and outreach work enrich lives through music and inspire new generations.

Every year we bring over 250 top musicians from across the world to live and work together on a remote stretch of the Cornish coast. Our seminars offer extraordinary opportunities to young artists, and nurture an international community of musicians throughout their careers.

Our work began in 1972 when Hilary Tunstall-Behrens invited his violin teacher Sándor Végh to Cornwall. Inspired by its wild and beautiful landscape, Végh suggested that this was an ideal place to teach young musicians and together they founded IMS Prussia Cove. More than a half century later we are proud to continue their work under the Artistic Direction of renowned cellist Steven Isserlis.
A wide range of repertoire is explored each seminar, and the performers in the concerts are some of the outstanding young musicians taking part in the Spring Masterclasses. The professors select a few to perform from each class, and this is a wonderful opportunity to hear some vibrant young musicians on the brink of their international careers. The different programmes are decided each week and are announced on our website a few days before each concert.
