Environmental artists on show in St Ives.

A love for the natural world has drawn 10 Cornwall-based artists together for a group show in St Ives in November.

The In This Together exhibition, curated by Ilya Fisher, at The Crypt Gallery, Norway Street, is responding to issues relating to the environment and climate.

Ilya said: “The thread through our work is our love for the world around us and our concern about the climate and environmental issues.

“The exhibition will be a pleasure in its own right, with work in a variety of mediums, but, while appreciating the artwork aesthetics, the aim is to encourage visitors to think about some of the most important environmental matters in the world today.”

The participating artists joining Ilya include Camilla Dixon, George Dow, Bill Gordon, Jane Gray, Charlie Lewin, Josie Purcell, Josh Rogers, Neil Scott, and Alex Smirnoff.

One of the contributing artists Josie Purcell said: “Art is a powerful way for us to share ideas about environmental issues that may seem too big to comprehend, can cause us to feel anxious, or don’t seem to relate directly to our lives.

“This show will be a wonderful way of creating conversations about environmental issues on our doorstep and globally, and perhaps spark potential solutions.”

This is the second In This Together group show, with topics covered by the work ranging from the impact of cement production to water quality issues and recycling waste to nature on our doorstep.

Ilya added: “We want people to be excited by this show and leave with thoughts and ideas bubbling in their minds, perhaps with a view to taking steps to start or bolster their positive actions for the environment.”

The exhibition runs from Saturday, November 5 from 2pm to 5pm, and Sunday 6 to Friday, November 11 from 10am to 5pm.
