About this event
INTERWOVEN brings together four artists with a common interest in exploring the natural world within their creative practices using different processes and techniques. Sustainability and minimising their impact on the environment play an important role for each of them.
Gwynne Penny is a multi-disciplinary visual artist working with biomorphic shapes to explore the internal and external landscape. Imagination, memory and a strong sense of place is woven into her work.
Liz Hewitt is a mixed media artist who documents her walks through the Cornish Landscape using foraged rust, leaves and natural pigments with ecological processes to mark cloth and paper, recording moments in time.
Anna Clarke is a mixed media artist and gut health specialist who founded ‘Create Nourish Heal’ to blend her passions for creativity and wellness, empowering others to prioritise their health. Drawing inspiration from her personal journey, the landscapes of St Ives and Salcombe, and a passion for recycling and sustainability, Anna creates textured, abstract art using a variety of media, including upcycled clothing, paper collage, and eco-printing using natures foliage.
For Carla Mines, making art is the ability to communicate the wonder of nature. The intention behind the work is to provoke, within the viewer, a poetic response to the beauty of nature and the need to protect it.
INTERWOVEN opens on Saturday 22 March at 4pm and is open daily from 10:30 to 5pm, until Friday 28 March, 2025.
Artwork will include installation, sculpture, painting, printmaking, and textiles.
Entry to the exhibition is free.
The Crypt Gallery is located on Church Place, just off the Wharf in St Ives, beneath the St Ives Society of Artists at the Mariners’ Church, Norway Square, St Ives, TR26 1NA.
