About this event
Handcraft and take home your own beautiful rings in this one-day workshop at the Newquay Adult Education Centre on Saturday 30th November from 10am – 3:30pm.
You will learn the fundamental silversmithing techniques required to make a ring including how to solder with silver solder, using a jeweller’s saw and texturing your ring using different methods, first practicing in copper before progressing to silver and finally finishing your ring by polishing in the barrel polisher. These skills can then be applied to other areas of jewellery making after the course. You will also learn how to measure materials accurately to create a specific ring size.
You will have access to studio equipment and materials and gain basic silversmithing skills and knowledge whilst having fun in a relaxed and supportive learning environment. You can expect to make at least two rings from sterling silver on this course as well as a copper ring.
Suitable for all.
This workshop is part of Be Newquay Festival – a new season of events, activities and workshops that celebrate Newquay’s culture and creative spirit. Throughout each weekend in November, the festival will be taking place at various venues across the town. Find out what else is on the programme here. Join us and be creatively curious.
