About this event
Inua Ellams is an internationally touring poet, playwright and performer. As a playwright, Ellams has won Fringe First and sold out two runs at the National Theatre.
The Actual, his first full poetry collection, was published in 2020 and is a symphony of personal and political fury at the empire and its legacies of racism, injustice and toxic masculinity. Vanessa Kisuule is a Bristol-based writer and performer.
She has won over ten slam titles and been featured on BBC iPlayer, Radio 1, Woman’s Hour, and Blue Peter. She was also Glastonbury Festival’s Resident Poet in 2019. Her poem on the historic toppling of Edward Colston’s statue, Hollow, gained over 600,000 views on Twitter in just three days.
