About this event
Visit the exhibition gallery to see the latest work from Jasmine Mills. Jasmine is a graduate of Falmouth University, where she gained a 1st class honours degree in Fine Art in 2017, and has been developing her practice ever since.
Stemming from the land that surrounds her, Jasmine Mills’ paintings develop from place and grow into strange, spiritual, often surreal images. She feels drawn to unusual and intriguing landscapes that appear to have traces of past human stories lived. For this reason she spends time exploring the relationship between figure and land. Jasmine is rooted in exploring these past human stories and how they might transcend through time re-appearing with new importance.
The making of her paintings happens much like the narratives, she tends to see them as one and the same. Adding and taking away, the process is much like a journey in itself. She likes to think of her paintings as adventures, in process and context. The brush marks and figures feel entwined; both exploring the landscape. There is a sense of spirit, guidance and sometimes isolation.
