About this event
After all the excitement of Christmas and New Year, award winning folk musician Jim Causley brings you a magical celebration of the ancient West Country tradition of wassailing. Jim will surprise and delight you with a musical romp through the orchards of Cornwall, Devon and beyond, demonstrating the great variety of wassail songs as well as other songs of ritual and custom. A warming cup of ‘wassail’ (hot mulled cyder) shall be served on the door to get everyone into the wassailing spirit. Jim is a proud Devonian who grew up in a wassailing village not for from Sidmouth Folk Festival. In recent years he has focused on his musical settings of poems by his relative Charles Causley.
