About this event

Jo's use of expressive brushstrokes create atmospheric paintings inspired by the landscape.

I am a contemporary painter working from my studio near Hendra, Praa Sands. Having lived in Cornwall for most of my life, the vast skies and changing light are intrinsic to my work. A sense of belonging that shapes the process of layering colour and texture creates the illusion of elemental movement. The colours I use are selected and applied in a way that is both methodical and meditative.

I work on several pieces at the same time and this keeps the marks I make fresh and expressive. I am inspired by the emotional connection we have to our surroundings and much of my work is reminiscent of our sense of place.

I will have a range of paintings, prints, cards and ceramics for sale in my recently renovated studio which was the former blacksmiths in the hamlet of Trevurvas. Join me for a chat and refreshments (GF Lemon Drizzle is my speciality!)

Accessibility

Details

The studio is easily accessed from the large parking area via a gentle slope. There are two steps to a wide sliding door. Toilet facilities are available next to the studio, although these are not accessible with a wheelchair.

Directions

From Helston take the A394 towards Penzance. Drive through the villages of Breage and Ashton. After leaving Ashton, take the left turn to Trevurvas. Approximately 3/4 mile down the lane there will be signs pointing to the large parking area.
