About this event
This show was created in 2016 and reworked in August 2020 for three sell-out performances at The Soapbox Children’s Theatre Plymouth. Shakespeare’s enchanting tale of magical mix-ups and forest fairies. Retold for ages 5 to 95 by John Brolly.
The mischievous Robin Goodfellow brings his travelling show back to the woods and relives the chaos and confusion of the Duke of Athens’ wedding party. Four crazy mixed up lovers become entangled with the King of the fairies and his queen. Meanwhile the most famous amateur theatre company in the world are doing their best to put on a show. All the magic and madness of a midsummer night.
Cornwall based theatre company Popp Theatre have created a new, innovative theatre space for an exciting season of performance in Truro.
Gwaryjy (‘theatre in the house’ in Cornish) contains 16 clear pods, each cocooning the audience around the stage, creating a safe space for both the audience and the performers. Based at the Pydar Pop Up in Truro, Gwaryjy is a fully accessible venue created by Catherine Lake & Jason Gerdes.
Each pod has space for 4 people, and pods will be sold as a whole, costing £30. A single occupancy rate will be available for £20.
Popp Theatre is supported by Arts Council, Crowdfunder, Cornwall, Council, Truro City Council, Arts Well, and Stephens Scown LLP.
