About this event
“With his keening tenor vibrato… there’s something of Tim Buckley about Sam Brookes” – The Independent
A remarkable collective of six diverse artists comes together to celebrate the musical legacy of John Martyn. Drawing from different paths and traditions, they recreate Martyn’s various musical eras with rich harmonies and diverse instrumentation.
Following a sold-out debut at Camden’s Jazz Cafe in 2018, this special project has evolved into a celebrated touring ensemble, bringing Martyn’s music back to festivals across the UK and Europe. The collective continues to expand their repertoire, breathing new life into both obscure gems and beloved classics.
Expect an evening of sensitive interpretations and musical exploration featuring Blythe Pepino (ex-Vaults), virtuoso guitarist Kit Hawes, soul musician Pete Josef (Roni Size, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man), acclaimed singer-songwriter Sam Brookes, and the creative rhythm section of John Blakeley and Jon Short.
