About this event
JOYS OF LIFE (30th May – 15th July) focuses on aspects of joy in our lives – despite the current turbulent times – through paintings by ANDREW WADDINGTON which reflect his memories of different stages of his life through images floating amid landscapes of his various abodes; ANDREW HARDING’s oil paintings express his joy in the transient life of flowers, capturing the moment before they fall or fade.
A sense of the ancient sites on Cornish moors is revealed in CRAIG UNDERHILL’s decoration of his slab-built ceramics while HELEN MARTINO’s ceramic sculpture shows joy in love & friendship through delicate painting and modelling of stoneware clay. Delight in ROBERT RACE’s automata is immediate! Made mainly from driftwood & recycled materials, the complex mechanisms reveal an engineer’s mind. GUY ROYLE’s jewels are always a joy! Finely incised silver is combined with semi-precious stones in necklaces and earrings and his brooches gleam with 18ct gold. Sculpture by HELEN NOCK is created from slate inlaid with mosaic and REECE INGRAM’s Seal and Little Grebe are carved from stone.
Visitors are welcome to walk around or picnic in the gardens surrounding Yew Tree Gallery after enjoying the exhibition.
