What better way to bring people together than through a good old collective Christmas sing-song? With this in mind, the creators of Cornwall Sings for the NHS and Lostwithiel’s Sing Along the River are once again bringing song to the communities of Cornwall and beyond through their Kerbside Carols concept this December and everyone is encouraged to ‘vocalise their village’ and join in!
Kerbside Carols will invite people to amplify their streets with singing through a live Facebook feed so that the streets of Cornwall (and beyond) can join together virtually in choruses of carols. Every Thursday evening during December from 8pm until Christmas Day, the team will lead three popular carols with live accompaniment, followed by a short reading or poem to celebrate the arrival of the festive season.
The popular carols have been especially arranged to suit the voices of men, women and children with musical scores available for accompanying musicians. The Really Lovely Projects team are encouraging households with loudspeakers, PAs or guitar amps to plug in to Facebook Live and share the music from their gardens, window ledges and doorsteps.
Enthusiastic singers and their families will be able to join a rehearsal on Facebook Live at 4pm on the preceding Sunday each week. They will have the chance to explore some harmonies and sing at home, gaining confidence to galvanise their neighbourhood.
Everyone is invited to be involved in this initiative. The live events and details can be accessed at www.facebook.com/Kerbsidecarols. The Kerbside Carols events will take place from 8pm on Thursdays 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th December. Rehearsal sessions will take place from 4pm on Sundays 29th November and 6th, 13th and 20th December. The Schools Sessions will take place from 2pm on Fridays 27th November and 4th, 11th and 18th December.
