About this event
‘An intimate evening of stories in song’ with KiTTo, an Australian Rock Musical Artist supported by Dolores Marvelous (SWE/UK)
KITTO is a celebrated Australian rock singer-songwriter whose extraordinary voice has raised the roof in 36 countries worldwide – from the North Pole and South Africa’s Robben Island to Tasmania and Tahiti.
She began her career at iconic Aussie label, Mushroom Records in her native Victoria, but her independent spirit soon had her striking out on her own. Like fellow Aussie SIA, she craved creative freedom and believed it was possible to live the dream while making music on her own terms and staying true to herself. It was the best decision she ever made. Nine acclaimed albums later, she’s performed at festivals, concert halls and TV and radio studios across the globe.
Such is the power of KITTO’S vocal dynamics that she was invited to tour worldwide as lead vocalist for Janis Joplin’s original band, BIG BROTHER & THE HOLDING COMPANY. At the San Francisco audition, she played Joplin’s legendary ’64 Gibson Bluebird.
In recent years, KITTO was based in Sweden, home to her management company. Now based near Newquay, KITTO’s intense and intimate solo performances have earned her a devoted following. Authentic and relatable, she is, first and foremost, a storyteller. Her songs are full of hard-won truths, heartache and influences gleaned from a life on the road, a life rich in travel and shared experiences.
‘KITTO’S gigs are pretty much guaranteed to leave you feeling completely inspired,’ said music writer Lauren St John. ‘She gives it everything she’s got. Most importantly, she awakens something native inside of us.’
