About this event
During the full three-day event (open 10am – 4pm daily), over 50 artists, designers and makers will be opening up their studios to the public. The event is formatted slightly differently this year, and with the replacement of the usual Friday evening festivities with an all-day Friday opening, we hope that a three-day event will provide more space and time to enjoy this unique occasion to shop for those extra special gifts directly from the maker’s hands.
As Cornwall’s largest creative hub, we are proud to be home to such a wide range of creatives that includes painters, jewellers, ceramicists, glass artists, photographers, and textile artists. We are delighted that Krowji tenants from the Phoenix group who sadly lost their studio spaces to the major fire on site earlier this year will be taking part in the event and will be displaying their work in a specially designated area, while tenants from Krowji’s sister Redruth site The Yard will also be participating.
Our Open Studios events are always an opportunity for visitors to see behind the scenes in artists’ studios and engage with the diverse tenants who work here. You can expect to browse everything from handmade pottery and unique glass wall hangings and decorations, to fine art, jewellery, photography, and original paintings. Limited edition prints and one-off originals will all be showcased, along with homewares such as tableware, textiles, and decorative ceramics, all created by tenants in their Krowji studios.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, Stones Krowji café will be open for the duration of the event with their delicious offerings. You can while away the morning browsing the creatives’ studios before settling down to a delicious lunch, coffee, cake, and Christmas treats.
We are working hard to ensure this is a Covid-19 secure event. Mask wearing and social distancing will be required and hand sanitiser dispensers are located around the site. Please be mindful of social distancing rules and be respectful of our tenants while visiting studios.
This free event is one of only two annual opportunities for the public to visit Krowji’s studios and meet the tenants. Krowji, Cornwall’s largest creative hub, is located in the former grammar school buildings in Redruth and provides studios for over 200 artists, makers, designers and other creative businesses.
