About this event
Biodiversity refers to the spectrum of life, variety and range of different species of plant and animal to be found living in one place.
Each habitat has its own biodiversity, and this is used as a measure of how well (or how poorly) natural life is coping in a specific area. It is a mark of how ecological processes are faring.
Our existence depends on biodiversity; the air we breathe, the food we eat, the water we drink ultimately all require it.
This exhibition (a small selection of Kurt Jackson’s touring exhibition Biodiversity), features works made in different locations. Some locations had a huge range of life, some were barren, some were dominated by nature, and some by human life.
All life forms have the same entitlement to exist as we do; fundamentally they are all individually fascinating, extraordinary and beautiful organisms in their own right.
Under the waters, on a mountain, in the street, in your living room, what lives there?
Only by being aware of the life we share this planet with, can we appreciate it – and then hopefully…conserve it.
