About this event
An Yvonne Arnaud Theatre production
LADIES OF LETTERS
by Lou Wakefield and Carole Hayman
Adapted by Jonathan Harvey (Coronation Street, Gimme Gimme Gimme)
Starring Tessa Peake-Jones (Only Fools and Horses, Grantchester) and Gwyneth Strong (Only Fools and Horses, EastEnders), and directed by Joanna Read.
Ladies of Letters is a riotously funny, sharply observant comedy, about women finding their voices later in life, adapted by acclaimed writer Jonathan Harvey, from the long running TV and radio series
Join Irene Spencer and Vera Small, two actively retired suburban women, as they battle the big issues of the 21st century, from climate change protest and accidental imprisonment to handy recipes for tasty petit fours and how to get stains out of slacks. They are best frenemies. Using the long-lost art of letter writing, they freely vent their views on their ungrateful children, how to find love at 60, and, on each other.
Packed with acidic detail that everyone navigating middle age, ungrateful families and M&S in an unforgiving world know so well.
Ladies of Letters brings Tessa and Gwyneth together on stage for the first time and is the first time they have worked together since Only Fools and Horses.
