About this event
Georgian folk ensemble Lalkhori are coming to Bodmin as part of a UK wide tour. Hailing from a remote region of the North Caucasus Mountains, they will be teaching and performing the unique and beautiful UNESCO-listed polyphonic songs of Georgia in the atmospheric surroundings of St Petroc’s Church.
If you haven’t sung or heard Georgian music before, prepare for goosebumps. And if you’re already a devotee of Georgian polyphony, this is a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the real thing without leaving Cornwall.
Their performance style aims to present Svan mythology, life and rituals as they would have been traditionally practised in everyday life. The folk songs are frequently accompanied with instruments, round dances and rituals, giving a deep and immersive insight into this fascinating culture.
Tickets available for the workshop or concert, or both combined.
Open to all. Songs taught by ear, no need to read music or know the language.
We work hard to keep our events accessible to as many people as possible, while still adequately compensating our expert music leaders. To that end we offer a choice of price bands to suit your means (Supporter, Standard and Concessionary) plus a Youth option, with accompanied under 14s free.
