About this event
Inside Skewjack Stories: Culture, Community & Change with Rachel Yates is part of National Maritime Museum Cornwall’s 2026 Spring Lecture Series ‘Breaking Waves: Surf History, Art, and Ocean Futures‘
In this lecture Rachel Yates, Skewjack Stories curator, takes audiences on a journey to the UKs first and only surf village.
Operating in west Cornwall from 1971 to the 1980s, Skewjack was a surf camp that blazed a trail in more ways than one. Discover how Skewjack lives on today, and how we might learn from this pioneering surf community to create authentic and reciprocal relationships with each other and the Ocean.
Doors open at 7pm, with drinks available from the Waterside Cafe.
