About this event
Are you looking to get started with lime rendering or plastering? Lime mortars and plasters were fundamental in the traditional construction of solid-walled buildings and today play an essential role in building conservation. As a traditional building skill growing in popularity, now is an excellent time to gain the knowledge and skills required to make a start.
Course overview
– Introduction to lime types, including hydraulic and non-hydraulic lime putty renders and plasters and hot mix mortars
– The use and applications of different types of lime
– The lime cycle, slaking and technical aspects
– Examples and why we use lime
– Difference between onsite mixing and premixed lime renders and plasters
– The tools of the trade and practical tips
– Background preparation and mixing
– The application of the coats and finishing techniques
– Patching and repairing cracks
– Health and safety
– Discussion / Q&A

Course Instructors – Sean Wheatley
Sean Wheatley has worked as a plasterer for over 40 years, earning the title of Master Plasterer with the Worshipful Company of Plaisterers in 2022. Sean and his team have worked on prestigious buildings across the country. Sean also teaches our Decorative Plaster & Running Mould Masterclass for those looking to learn more.

Phil Brown is the founder and Managing Director of Cornish Lime, with over 50 years of experience and expertise in the construction industry.
