Camborne

Packed with fascinating industrial heritage, historical trails and much-loved visitor attractions, Camborne is perhaps best known for its role in Cornwall’s world-changing tin and copper mining industry during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

Today Camborne features remnants from Cornwall’s mining past, with several engine houses dotted around the surrounding landscape, some of which serve as popular visitor attractions to tell stories of how Cornish mining shaped the world we live in today.

East Pool Mine, a National Trust property, is located in Pool on the outskirts of Camborne, and features one of the largest surviving Cornish beam engines in the world.

A trip to Heartlands in Pool is also a must for anyone with a sense of adventure, offering a 19-acre site for discovery, including diverse gardens, art and craft studios, sculptures, exhibitions and a unique cafe.

Situated a few short miles away from Camborne, the award-winning King Edward Mine museum offers an intriguing day out, giving visitors a flavour of what life was like for Cornish miners.
Camborne also hosts cultural events throughout the year, across a variety of venues in this authentically Cornish town. All Saints Church in the Tuckingmill area features performances from local, up and coming performers as well as gig-circuit favourites such as folk music rising stars Philip Henry and Hannah Martin, as well as folk music legend Steve Knightley.

Take a trip to this culturally diverse area of Cornwall and experience its strong community spirit and fascinating history.
