Lollipop – Townshend Film Club

Molly, a young woman released from prison battles to regain custody of her children.

When she reconnects with her childhood friend Amina, a fellow single mother trying to make a life for her family, the two women join forces and take destiny into their own hands.

LOLLIPOP is a film about our capacity for joy even in life’s hardest moments, about finding strength through sisterhood, and what it means to have the unwavering courage to fight for your family, against a system that won’t listen, even when you’ve got nothing left.

Written and directed by BAFTA Breakthrough Daisy-May Hudson with the greatest of compassion for her characters, it will break your heart and then put it back together, stronger and with more hope than ever.

Featuring an all-female cast, with a powerhouse performance from Posy Sterling (Screen International Star of Tomorrow, The Outrun) as Molly, and a cast of mostly non-actors, led by one-to-watch Idil Ahmed as Amina, including many with a variety of lived experiences close to themes of the film.
