About this event
Lucy Mangan is the TV critic for The Guardian, a columnist, features writer and reviewer for many publications. She is also a published author of a number of books, including My Family and Other Disasters and The Reluctant Bride, all of which include a constant theme – her love of reading. In Bookworm, she drilled into your memories of childhood and forgotten gems with a promise to yourself to reread those wonders that sparked your imagination.
Her latest, Bookish, will take you on further adventures and may ultimately lead to tsundoku, a Japanese term that Lucy defines as buying books at a rate that outstrips the speed at which you can read them – and keeping them all; she herself has 10,000. Lucy chronicles her years of buying, borrowing and hoarding everything from well-worn literary classics to steamy bonkbusters, gripping thrillers, young adult novels and other not-so-guilty pleasures. Many you will recognise, stirring up echoes of the past; others will undoubtedly be added to your reading list
Lin Rogers is a member of the LitFest organising team, has worked in the marketing communications industry and is freelance corporate copywriter
