A community creative writing project online

‘Magical Realism in the Museum’ is a series of creative writing workshops inspired by the collections at the Royal Cornwall Museum, in Truro. It is aimed at adults or young people over 16. It is completely free, and aimed at anyone who has been affected by the pandemic and who would like to learn or develop new creative writing skills.

The workshops will be aimed at complete beginners, and we would particularly welcome participants who have never visited the museum before or tried creative writing, as well all participants with all other levels of experience. The posts on the project facebook page will include creative writing exercises, using objects in the museum collection to start to construct our own stories.

Videos filmed within the museum will introduce each exercise. Participants will be encouraged to join in, and post their own writing on each Facebook post, and we hope to create a really supportive and interactive ‘writing community’ where we can give one another positive feedback.

We would encourage participants to follow the page now, in advance of the project starting in January 2021.
