About this event
Join us for a calming, creative afternoon of zine-making on Tuesday 7th July from 1pm – 3pm at St Cubert’s Church.
A zine (pronounced “zeen”, short for magazine or fanzine) is a small, self-published booklet that people create to share ideas, stories, artwork, experiences, opinions, poetry, photography, or almost anything else.
In this relaxed, creative session, you will learn how to make your own zine. There is absolutely no pressure to create a ‘masterpiece’ or rush your work; our main hope is that you simply enjoy the process, go at a pace you are comfortable with, and perhaps feel inspired to continue making zines outside of the workshop.
We have designed this to be a collaborative space where you are welcome to discuss your ideas with others if you’d like, but there is absolutely no pressure to do so. Gentle support will be provided by our team throughout the evening.
Because this session takes place amidst the HushFest exhibition, you will have the unique opportunity to add your finished zine to our community exhibition for others to enjoy! Please note that this is completely optional – you are more than welcome to take your creation home with you.
This workshop is part of HushFest, Cornwall’s Festival of Quietness. Through exhibitions, workshops, performances and community-created artwork HushFest celebrates quietness as a source of creativity, connection and belonging.

Due to the historic nature of the building, the church is currently not wheelchair accessible and requires navigating steps at the entrance and between internal areas.
