About this event
Venue: Engine Room at The Exchange
What does queer history look like when you follow roads, coves and footpaths rather than famous names alone? In this illustrated talk, Dr Paul Taylor-McCartney shares the new research and mapping from his book, Cornwall Uncharted: Mapping Cornwall’s Queer History of Concealment, Culture and Creativity, exploring three centuries of queer lives in the county. His case studies will take you on a journey from 18th-century performance culture and cross-dressing in Truro taprooms through artistic colonies at Lamorna and Newlyn and on to Bodmin Jail and modern Pride routes.
paul will be in conversation with writer, university lecturer, publisher and magazine editor Peter McAllister, who is also a member of the LitFest organising team.
Concessions strictly for: Under 18s, Full-Time Students, those in receipt of working-age benefit sor Pension Credit.
