About this event
Join artist Sue Lewington and make a personal map inspired by some of the beautiful manorial maps at Kresen Kernow.
Make a personal map loosely based on your ‘home ground’, a place well known to you, or entirely from your imagination.
No experience is needed for a day of creativity playing with ideas of maps and journeys, home and fantasy, with plenty of cutting, sticking and paper folding involved!
Lots of source material will be available and there will be an opportunity to view some of the original treasured maps from the Kresen Kernow.
All paper is supplied and there will be materials to borrow and use on the day.
Please bring with you the following items for the workshop:
– Your own photos, sketches and maps for reference if you wish
– Scissors, rulers, pens, pencils and cutting mats if you have them
– Paints and coloured pencils are also useful.
The workshop is £10 with limited spaces and booking is essential.
To book, call 01209 614430 during open hours (Tues, Weds, Thurs 9.30am-4pm).
Please note: Tea, coffee and biscuits provided but can participants please bring their own lunch.
About the Artist: Sue Lewington’s inspiration comes from walking in Cornwall and Scilly, capturing a sense of place and time, creating sketchbooks, paintings and publications in various medias.
The Manorial Documents Register Project for Cornwall funded by The National Archives began in January 2020 and will be completed in 2022.
