About this event
Measuring seven metres in diameter, the artwork features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the Martian surface, made from NASA Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter data, Visible Earth series, NASA.
At an approximate scale of 1:1 million, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 10 kilometres of the surface of Mars.
Accompanying the sculpture is a newly created sound composition by BAFTA and Ivor Novello award winning composer Dan Jones.
All are welcome and there is no need to book to see Mars by Day. Please be advised that a queuing system may be in place during peak times.
There is no charge for entry to see Mars at Truro Cathedral by day, with donations of £5.00/adult encouraged. Your donation enables the cathedral to continue to bring inspiring art installations to the community and to care for Cornwall’s only cathedral.
