About this event
I work from my garden studio overlooking the fields to the Argal Reservoir. My work is inspired by the Cornish landscape and I work from sketches and memories from walks and places I have visited, taking the elements, exploring the literal quality, and by a process of deconstructing and reassembling, the elements of structure are retained in an abstracted form without losing all recognition of the place.
I often work with monoprints and small studies to explore composition and colour. Mark making is an important part of my work from the start to the finished piece and it leads to a journey responding to the original marks I have made, building up with various mediums through erasing and layering retaining visible layers. I try to capture the essence of the place through both paint and print, one enhancing the other evolving the work as an emotional response to the subject, and to produce a harmonious feeling with a sense of energy. I feel it is important for the viewer to interpret the work through their own perception but still feel a sense of place in the finished piece.
Tea and coffee will be available. The Argal Cafe, the New Inn at Mabe and the Potager Garden at Constantine are a short drive away.
Paintings from £195 to £800, Prints from £55 and cards from £2
